About the race
Wise Raven Trail Race takes place at Camp Heidelberg - K-W Optimist Club on Kressler Road in Waterloo, Ontario. Any money in excess of expenses from this event will be donated to Run-Walk-Roll for WRHNCC; this is the 11th year raising funds. The race is sanctioned by Athletics Ontario and limited to 115 spots.
The course is a well marked 2.5 km loop through forest trails on the Camp Heidelberg property in Kitchener Waterloo. Runners leave the start-finish area onto a fast, flat section that passes a covered aid station and heads toward the camp pond. The route is mostly fast, groomed trail with some short technical sections featuring rocks and roots, and a few rolling hills. Each loop has approximately 45 m of elevation gain. October conditions can include rain or snow.
Available options include:
- 5 km: two loops
- 10 km: four loops
- 25 km: ten loops
- 50 km: twenty loops
- 6 hour option
- 6 hour relay: teams of 2 to 4
Relay details: the team captain registers and pays for the full team, laps are 2.5 km, the ankle timing chip is passed at the finish area, and runners must complete entire laps. Electronic timing is provided by Chiptime Results. Aid station supplies water, pop, electrolytes, candy, chips, pickles, and sometimes PB&J and pie. This is a cup-less event; participants should bring their own bottle. Pacers are not allowed. There is plenty of parking. No pets or alcohol are permitted on the property. No refunds are offered; entrants may defer to the following year. Distance transfers are permitted with payment differences for longer distances.
