Winter Georgetown 5K & Half
The event on January 17, 2027 offers two distances that run along the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal path in Georgetown and at Fletcher’s Boathouse. Points for these races count toward the organizer’s Year Long 5k, Endurance, Back of the Pack Series and the Winter Series. A virtual race option is available.
- Half Marathon out and back on the C&O Canal, light gravel dirt road, minimal elevation change.
- 5K out and back on the C&O Canal path, light gravel flat trail.
Runners receive a finisher’s medal, a technical Drifit event shirt and chip timing. Walkers and strollers are welcome. The race lists a Back of the Pack designation for each distance to allocate series points; this designation is described as not being a cutoff.
Support for Negotiation Works is noted as the race charity. Live results will be posted on Athlinks and a QR code will be available at the race; final results with series points are posted the Monday following the race. Runner tracking via SMS is offered when signing up.
Practical details include packet pickup at the event and no on site race registration. Water stations and restroom arrangements are provided along the course and at venue locations. Awards are given to the top three men and women overall and to first and second place in standard age group categories, with overall top three not eligible for age group prizes.
