About the race
Wily Weka is Nelson Orienteering Club's annual rogaining event held on Sunday 6 September 2026 in Nelson, New Zealand. The event uses foot navigation across urban and nearby wild terrain around Nelson, with controls placed in areas such as the Grampains, the Port Hills, the Centre of New Zealand and Codgers.
The event offers two timed course options:
- 3-hour foot rogaine
- 6-hour foot rogaine
Entries can be individual or team-based. Individuals must be at least 16 years old. Categories include Junior, Senior, Masters and Family, with Male, Female and Mixed team options. Registration is open via EnterO and closes Tuesday 1 September at midnight; there are no entries on the day.
Wily Weka is described as Nelson Orienteering Club's major yearly event and contributes to funding new maps and equipment. The event features navigation challenges intended to test team navigation, equipment and dynamics, and it is also presented as an opportunity for an active family outing or personal challenge.
