The Wicked Windstone Loop
The Wicked Windstone Loop is a multi-distance trail event held on the Windstone Landing Farms property in Columbia Cross Roads, PA. Distances offered include:
- 100 Miler
- 100k
- 50k
- 5k
The course is a roughly 5 kilometer loop with about 300 feet of elevation gain per lap. Surface types include mixed farm roads, mowed fields, wooded singletrack, pine forest, creek-side trails, and natural terrain. A single lap passes the pond land bridge, farmland perimeter, northern woodlands, a hand-built log bridge, and a steep climb called The Wall. The route also passes the farmstead, camping area, and the Delivered Fresh packaging facility before a short out-and-back on Windstone Lane.
The 100-Mile event starts from an offset point approximately 0.934 kilometers before the main Start/Finish area and requires 32 full loops of the 5 kilometer course. Reported elevation totals for race distances include roughly 3,000+ feet for the 50k (10 loops), 6,000+ feet for the 100k (20 loops), and about 10,000+ feet near the 100-mile mark.
The event uses a course reversal called The Wicked Reversal signaled by air horns or cowbells; timing and duration are not predetermined and 5k runners are exempt. Overnight gear rules require lighting for 100k and 100 mile entrants and recommend lights for 50k runners. Pacers and trekking poles are permitted under specific rules and check in requirements.
On-site camping and an aid station are provided. Registered participants receive an event shirt and finisher awards including medals for 5k, 50k, 100k and a belt buckle for 100 miles. Time cutoffs apply for each distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
