Warrington Way 40 mile trail ultramarathon 2026
The Warrington Way is a 40 mile circular multi terrain race that circumnavigates the town of Warrington. The route starts and finishes in the village of Lymm, east of Warrington, and runs anticlockwise around the town. Most of the course is off road on footpaths, field crossings, farm tracks and canal towpaths, with some road sections and several major road crossings to be aware of.
The route crosses local waterways, railways and motorways including the Bridgewater Canal, Manchester Ship Canal, St Helens Canal, the River Mersey, the West Coast mainline and Liverpool to Manchester mainline railways, and the M6, M62 and M56 motorways. Drinks and food are provided at three checkpoints at approximately 10, 20 and 30 miles. Hot and cold drinks and a hot meal are provided at the finish. Finishers receive a medal. Event T shirts and hoodies may be purchased on the day from 12 noon subject to availability.
Entry formats include:
- Solo runners - whole 40 mile course
- Pairs - each member covers approximately 20 miles
- Four person relay - four stages of about 10 miles each
Entries close 08 November 2026. Entrants must be aged 20 or over on the event date and agree to the race rules and liability waiver. A waiting list operates; payment is taken only if a place is offered and accepted. Cancellations are refundable less a 10 percent administration fee up to six weeks before the event, with transfers and team changes allowed up to one week before.
