Event Overview

The Warrington Transport Trail Half Marathon is a circular running event that explores various historic transport networks within the Warrington area. The race takes place on a mix of footpaths and bridleways that follow old transport trails. The course begins and ends at the Thelwall Royal British Legion Sports Club and utilizes several scenic waterways and trail paths.

Course Information

The route is way-marked and marshalled for the safety of all participants. The course starts on the Trans Pennine Trail before crossing the swing bridge at Latchford. Runners proceed along the Manchester Ship Canal and cross the River Mersey at Woolston Weir. The path then follows the north side of the Mersey, incorporating the towpath of the New Cut Canal and the filled-in Black Bear canal. The final segments of the race pass the Walton Arms and Walton Gardens, following the Bridgewater Canal before returning to the Trans Pennine Trail for the finish.
