About the race
The Wanakee Wilderness 5K is a trail race held on August 14, 2027, on the Wanakee camp property in Meredith, New Hampshire, in the White Mountains and Lakes Region. The event supports the camp scholarship fund and facility improvements while marking the end of the summer camp season. The course runs across a site of 227 acres and moves through hills and woodland valleys with northern hardwoods and evergreens. Runners encounter varied trail surfaces including granite rock outcrops and woodland paths, and pass landmarks named Lemon Squeeze, Look Out Point and the Waterfront.
The setting is described as a beautiful spiritual place in the hills. The event program includes an awards ceremony, a Homecoming BBQ and a silent auction as part of the Homecoming activities. BBQ tickets are priced at $15 for adults and $8 for children ages 6 to 12. Registration for the race is planned to open in late May or early June.
