Walking Tall 50/25K
Walking Tall is a trail event at Big Hill Pond State Park in Pocahontas, TN held on October 17, 2026. The courses run almost entirely on single-track trail with some park road sections and include notable features such as a fire tower climb and a swamp boardwalk over half a mile long.

The 50K follows the 25K route until the finish split, where a drop bag point and a full aid station are available before runners continue on the opposite side of the park. Full aid stations for the 25K are at miles 6.5, 9.6, and 12.5. Full aid stations for the 50K are at miles 15.5 (drop bag), 18.4, 23.0, 26.1, and 27.5.
The fire tower includes a bib punch at the top; finishers who climb to the top receive a special challenge coin in addition to the standard finishers item. The race materials reference local history related to law enforcement along the Mississippi–Tennessee state line.
The event enforces time limits: a 9 hour cut for the 50K and an 8 hour cut for the 25K, with a course cut at the inbound railroad tracks at mile 26.1. Surface and elevation are both rated 3 by Ultra Magazine standards. Year round camping is available at Big Hill Pond. The event is not for profit and 100% of proceeds go to charity, with 90% to Big Hill Pond and 10% to the Tennessee Park Rangers Association.
