Wakely Dam Ultra

The Wakely Dam Ultra is a 55K ultra marathon held in the Adirondack Park along a remote section of the Northville Placid Trail between Piseco Lake and the Wakely Dam in Piseco, NY. The course is technical trail terrain with approximately 3,300 feet of total elevation gain and no crossroads; once on the trail the only exits are the Piseco Airport or returning to the dam. The race is self-supported, and participants are expected to provide their own aid. Hiking or walking poles are not permitted.

Registration includes a race shirt, additional event swag, and two meals: a pre-race pasta meal and a post-race meal and gathering for runners and families. The 2026 registration fee is listed at $115.00. The registration process requires validation of prior performance: acceptable validation is a 5:15 road marathon within the last 12 months, a 9:30 50k trail race within the last 12 months, a 50 mile finish within the last 12 months, or a 10:30 hour Wakely finish within the last two years. Registrants must provide the name and year of the validating race and a public link to results; if the Wakely finish is used as validation, entrants enter WDU in the required field. The system collects credit card information at registration but charges only after validation.

Event logistics include packet pickup and check-in the day before, a pre-race pasta, mandatory course updates for first-time participants, morning transport to the start area, finish-line hospitality, and post-race festivities. There is no overnight camping or parking allowed at the Piseco Airport. Camping at the dam is allowed only at designated sites with a two-tent limit per site; there are eight primitive sites at the dam with basic facilities and additional primitive sites nearby on a first-come, first-served basis. Several nearby campgrounds and an inn offer paid accommodations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
