Virgil Crest Ultras - Cortland, NY

Virgil Crest Ultras is a trail ultramarathon event in Cortland, NY, organized by Happily Running. The event offers multiple race distances and is held at 2245 Clute Rd in Cortland.

Noted course features include steep ascents and descents, significant cumulative elevation gain and loss, technical and flowing singletrack, and exposed sections where weather can increase difficulty. Organizers plan a major course change from prior years; full course maps and updates will be released when available. The 100 mile race has a 36 hour cutoff from the official start; aid station cutoffs will be posted once the course is set.

Race support and logistics details are provided by the organizers. Poles are permitted for all entrants and must fit in a drop bag if left at an aid station for transport. For the 100 mile distance, pacers are permitted at or after 50 miles or at nightfall. The start and finish area is accessible to crew, and at least one additional aid station will be crew accessible.

Finishers historically receive locally sourced giveaways; specific swag details are still being finalized. Registration closes on September 10, 2026. A 2021 photo gallery is available to view past event imagery. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
