Vernal Equinox 48-24-12-8 Hour Run
The Vernal Equinox is a multi-day endurance event held at Majestic Farm in Batavia, Ohio. The race takes place on an equestrian facility featuring a 2 mile loop course that traverses wooded trails, meadows, and gravel roads. The terrain is described as smooth and fast trail.
Participants can choose from several timed events:
- 48 Hour
- 24 Hour
- 12 Hour
- 8 Hour
- Rucker 12 Hr (Participants carry weighted rucksacks)
The event provides a unique staging area where runners can reserve clean horse stalls near the start and finish area to store supplies or nap. These stalls are allocated with priority given to the 48 hour and 24 hour participants. RV hookups are also available at the venue for a fee.
The race follows a cupless policy, providing participants with a reusable cup for use at the aid station. The station offers standard ultrarunning fare alongside hot food items such as homemade soup and grilled cheese, with vegan options included. For safety and course capacity, pacers are only permitted for the 48 hour and 24 hour distances after the shorter Saturday events have concluded.
An Athletes With Disability (AWD) division is available for visually or mobility-impaired athletes who are fully ambulatory. The event also awards belt buckles to runners who achieve 100 miles, 150 miles, or 200 miles. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
