Vernal Equinox 48-24-12-8 Hour Run
Vernal Equinox is a multi-day timed trail event held at Majestic Farm in Batavia, OH from April 2 to 4, 2027, organized by Empower Ultra and Endurance Races. The event offers several timed race options and a rucking division.
The course is a two-mile loop that goes through wooded trails, meadows, and gravel road. Each loop passes a large barn at the start/finish area. Aid stations provide typical ultrarunning food plus some hot items such as homemade soup, grilled cheese, and fresh coffee; vegan options are available. The event is cupless: participants receive a reusable cup with their packet and no paper cups will be provided. Bowls and plates will be available for hot food.
Participants may reserve free clean horse stalls near the start/finish for staging, napping, or storage. RV hookups are available for a fee. Race swag includes high-quality Rabbit shirts and custom finisher awards handmade in Ohio; belt buckles are offered for specific mileage achievements. Part of event proceeds will be donated to Project Congo.
Barney Riesbeck State Farm offers $250 cash prizes for beating the 24-hour and 48-hour course records. Current course records are listed by distance and year without holder names.
The event includes an Athletes With Disability division with rules for visual and mobility impairments; athletes in wheelchairs are not eligible. Pacers are restricted and require a waiver. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
