Vermont Overland Run: Overland TRAIL
The Vermont Overland Run is scheduled for August 16, 2026 at Ascutney Outdoors in West Windsor / Brownsville, Vermont. The event benefits Ascutney Outdoors, Ascutney Trails Association, and Brownsville Base Camp.
Course options include:
- 15 miles Overland TRAIL - ~2,400 ft elevation, 3 aid stations
- 5.5 miles Overland PATH - ~800 ft elevation, 1 aid station
Both courses cover mixed surfaces with the majority on dirt and trail; pavement sections are largely transitional. Routes will be fully marked with Vermont Overland arrows and flags (orange for the 15-mile TRAIL, turquoise blue for the 5.5-mile PATH), and organizers provide official GPS route files. Runners are asked to begin self-supported and all participants must start with at least one reusable water flask. Aid stations are volunteer-run and intended as supplementary hydration and fuel.
The event uses an open course format; roads remain open to traffic and participants must follow traffic laws and marshal instructions. Camping is available at Ascutney Outdoors with multiple categories (tent only, car and tent, 4x4 field, limited camper/RV spaces) and specific rules including no campfires and no electrical or toilet hookups for campers. Registration opens January 1, 2026. Awards and prizes are provided for top finishers and age groups, and the Overland TROPHY links this run to a separate bicycle event for an overall competition.
