About the race
The Vancouver Island Trail Running Series finale takes place in Qualicum Bay at the Lighthouse Community Centre, 240 Lions Way, Qualicum Beach BC. The event acknowledges the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the Qualicum and K’ómoks First Nations.
Distances offered:
- 27 km long course; 345 m vertical, 3 aid stations.
- 11 km short course; 135 m vertical, 1 aid station.
- 1 km kids race; registration fees support the Lighthouse Community Centre.
The long course includes aid stations located near 6.7 km, 13.2 km and 18.2 km and has cutoff checkpoints at those stations. Aid station provisions include water, Gatorade, fruit, chips, pickles and assorted snacks. The event is cupless; participants must bring a personal drinking container or may purchase a cup from the event merch tent.
There is ample parking at the community hall and parking volunteers will provide direction. Bib pick up is inside the community centre and requires a government issued photo ID.
Post-race snacks will be available in the community hall. Draw prizes and the series points awards are part of a separate banquet dinner and awards evening; banquet tickets are sold separately and become available two weeks before the race. A Halloween costume contest runs in several categories with prizes awarded at the banquet; runners must complete the race in costume to be eligible.
