Up The Creek - Runner information
Up The Creek offers trail races on the Sunshine Coast with two main distances:
- 50 km
- 25 km
The event base is at Langdale Elementary School, a short walk from the Langdale ferry terminal. BC Ferries service between Horseshoe Bay and Langdale is commonly used; the organizer notes 50 km runners need to be on the Sunshine Coast on Friday because the first ferry leaves too late to make the start. 25 km runners can catch the first ferry but are advised to allow extra time if they do not have a reservation.
Timing is via a chip on the race bib; runners must wear the bib visibly on the front and avoid bending the chip. Aid stations will carry Precision Fuel and Hydration products, drink mix, savoury snacks, fruit, candies and water. The event is cupless; runners must bring a foldable cup, flask or hydration bladder for refills. The 50 km requires a headlamp at the start due to early darkness on the forested sections.
Runners share forest service roads and trails with other users and wildlife; the route may be tampered with so participants must carry the GPX or route on a device or map. Dogs must be on leash at the start and finish and are not allowed to run the course. One earbud or bone conducting headphones are requested to maintain awareness. Porta toilets are provided. Proceeds will be donated to Sunshine Coast Search and Rescue. A Kiddo's run will be held with no prize categories or podiums due to a wide age range.
