About the race
Ultra Trail na mBan takes place on April 17, 2027, as an all-women’s trail running event organised by Trail Criú, a not-for-profit group. Proceeds will be reinvested into Trail Criú and ten percent will be donated to Women’s Aid. The start is in Laragh, Co. Wicklow, with routes that follow local trails including sections of St. Kevin’s Way.
The event offers two route choices: • 56 km route from Laragh to Hollywood and back, approx. 1,155 m elevation gain, mixed grass, trail and road. • 24 km route from Laragh to St. Kevin’s Pool and back, approx. 560 m elevation gain, mixed grass, trail and road.
Facilities and event policies include toilets on the route with period products, aid stations with vegan options, no cut-off times, and allowance for hiking or running poles. Hikers are welcome. Refunds are available for pregnancy or pregnancy loss. Transgender and non-binary athletes are explicitly welcomed. Accommodation is available near the start line and some travel options serve Laragh; participants are advised to arrange transport and local lodging in advance.
Recommended kit reflects variable Irish April weather: waterproof outerwear, layers (no cotton), trail shoes or hiking boots, food and water for a day in the hills, head torch, hat and gloves, whistle, and a fully charged mobile phone.
