Ultra In The Black Country - 21 March 2027
Ultra In The Black Country is a 32-mile loop event based at Baggeridge Country Park near Dudley, West Midlands. The route is broken into four sections and can be completed solo, as a pair, or as a team of four. The event is the tenth edition and carries a £3.50 parking charge at the venue.
The route is approximately 97% traffic free and mainly follows well surfaced disused railway lines and canal towpaths. It includes woodland, canal tunnels and a nature reserve, and will be fully waymarked. Participants receive a GPX file for GPS devices. There are three staffed checkpoints that also serve as relay changeover points; each checkpoint supplies water, energy drink and assorted food.
A mandatory head-torch section runs through the 2.7 km Netherton Tunnel; the route also passes the 329 m Coseley Tunnel. The finish location offers a finisher's medal and a bottle of Teme Valley Brewery beer. The minimum age is 18 on race day. Participants must complete the course within nine hours.
