Tunnel to Towers Climb – Capital Region, NY
The event is a tower climb held at the Empire State Plaza, Corning Tower Concourse in Albany, NY. Participants ascend up to the 42nd floor observation deck via stairs that total 809 steps. The climb includes two flights per floor, with two hallways included on floors 17 and 32 where the stair direction changes.
There are bailout opportunities on floors 10, 20 and 31. Water stations are provided on every floor and at the start and finish. Medics will be on site for emergencies. Cameras and video devices are allowed, and registered climbers may carry cell phones in the stairwell. Due to security rules, participants are asked not to bring bags, backpacks or purses; there is no bag check.
Entry is limited to 500 participants. Minimum age to participate is 10 years on event day; children under 10 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All participants must enter through the underground concourse; the GPS address to use is 5 Empire State Plaza, Albany, NY. Free parking is available at the East Garage and the New York State Museum offers free weekend parking.
All participants who register in advance will receive an event t shirt and a finisher's medal; t shirt sizes are not guaranteed for late registrations. The event is timed using shoe chips and bibs.
