About the race

The Trossachs Trundle is a Long Distance Walkers Association challenge event organised by the Heart of Scotland LDWA. The route is a circular circuit from Kirk Hall in Callander that circumnavigates Loch Venachar and covers about 22 miles with roughly 3350 ft (1020 m) of ascent. The course runs mainly on good tracks, paths and private roads. The route goes through Callander, up to Bracklinn Falls and over Callander Crags with views across nearby hills, then follows the Rob Roy Way and the Great Trossachs Path above the north side of the loch before returning along the south shore and through Coilhallan Wood to the finish.

The first section includes a rocky ascent and descent of Callander Crags; a marshal will be present at the start of this climb. There are staffed checkpoints at Bochastle, Brig o’Turk and on the south shore of Loch Venachar offering snacks, drinks and hot food at selected locations, and hot drinks and a hot meal at the finish. Certificates will be issued to all finishers. Entrants must be at least 16 years old, those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Dogs are not permitted.

Entries are limited to 80 places and must be made online; the entry fee is £22 for LDWA members and £25 for non-members. Entrants must carry specified compulsory kit and follow the event rules; marshals may time out or disqualify participants for safety reasons. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
