Tropical 5K Classic

The Tropical 5K Classic is a Hawaiian themed obstacle course race held at Allegheny RiverTrail Park in Aspinwall on September 19, 2026. The course requires participants to crawl, climb, bounce and bend; some participants also walk the route. Teams must carry a single pineapple throughout the course and keep it from touching the ground.

Costumes are commonly worn and there is a prize awarded for the best costume. The event includes additional activity areas labeled as the Pineapple Play Zone and a Luau Only option. Entry fees and registration windows are listed for each event.

Proceeds support The Stanley M. Marks Blood Cancer Research Fund and Lending Hearts. After the course, participants and sponsors are invited to a luau style gathering with live music provided by a local band, food, drinks and awards. The event combines physical obstacles with social activities and fundraising for the named charitable recipients. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
