Tröegs Rugged Trail 5K Run for Conservation
The event is a trail run at the Ned Smith Center For Nature & Arts in Millersburg, PA, held to raise funds for the Center’s lands and trail system. Two route options are offered:
- HopBack Trail (Beginner): 3.1 Miles
- Rugged Trail 5K: 3.1 Miles
The HopBack Trail follows Wiconisco Creek, includes a section on a rail trail, crosses the creek, and passes through the Nature Discovery Play Area. The Rugged Trail climbs approximately 700 ft through the woods of Berry Mountain and features more varied terrain and elevation. The Center's property includes over 9 miles of trails across more than 500 acres, a scenic bridge over Wiconisco Creek, three rotating art galleries, a gift shop, and educational programming.
Registration pricing varies by date and age: early registration rates apply through April 30, 2027, and higher rates apply afterward and on race day. Registration includes a Rugged Trail Run 5K t-shirt, a pizza token, a Tröegs Rugged Trail Ale token, and a SWAG bag; shirt sizes available from unisex XS to XXL and sizes are guaranteed only if registered by August 15, 2027. Packet pick-up and check-in are available at the Ned Smith Center Gift Shop the day before and on race day. Volunteer stations will be placed along each route. Dogs may attend as spectators but are not permitted to run the courses. Awards are given to overall and age-group top finishers and other special prizes.
