Trans Scania

Trans Scania is an almost unsupported trail run of 246 km across Skåne, Sweden, that includes some road sections. The event has a cut-off time of 56 hours, so many finishers spend most of that time on the course. Aside from a single dropbag and a handover of GPS trackers, no organized support is provided during the race.

Entry is restricted to runners who have completed an equivalent endurance event in the last two years, for example a 100 mile or a 24-hour race. The organizers review applications case by case and their decision is final. Registration opens 23 October; if more than twenty qualified applications arrive within the first week a lottery will decide the first twenty starters and the remaining applicants will be placed in a queue.

The route mainly follows the Skåneleden trail with two documented deviations. GPX files and map documentation are provided; major deviations from the prescribed route can lead to disqualification. Participants are responsible for their own navigation if recent trail changes are not reflected in the files.

The race passes through pastures, nature preserves and farmland where runners may encounter cows, bulls, horses, wild boar, badgers, wolves, the common European adder and ticks. Littering is prohibited.

All runners must carry provided tracking equipment and return it after the race. One dropbag (max 40x40x50 cm, max 10 kg) and one smaller finish bag are handled by the organizers; finish bags are stored but valuables are left at the runner’s own risk.
