About the race
Trail de Chimay is a trail running event around Chimay with start and finish at Auberge du Poteaupré, Rue du Poteaupré 5, 6464 Bourlers. The start area is located at the Chimay museum, about 1 km from the Trappist abbey. A spacious parking area is provided close to the venue and the site is mainly reachable by car.
Four marked distances are offered; each route is signposted with black arrows on an orange background. GPX files are made available five days before the event and some parts combine technical sections with well runnable sections. Live timing is provided via SQM Time; timing chip(s) are attached to the back of the race bib and intermediate times are recorded at control points.
Distances and basic route data:
- 50 km, 49.36 km, 1421 m D+, river crossing, supplies at 12/25/41 km
- 34 km, 34.15 km, 863 m D+, river crossing, supplies at 9/25 km
- 24 km, 23.01 km, 470 m D+, no river crossing, supply at 14 km
- 11 km, 11.08 km, 177 m D+, no river crossing, finish supply
Mandatory material varies by distance. For the longest distances participants must carry a phone, identity card, own cup and at least 1 L water reserve; shorter distance rules require phone and identity card. The organiser does not provide disposable plastic cups; reusable eco cups are available for purchase. Food and drink at aid stations include water, sports drink, cola, fruit, cake and sandwiches.
