Torrington Christmas Caper
The Christmas Caper is a mostly off road multi terrain run of approximately 10 miles over country lanes, woodland trails and sections that may be muddy or include water wading and obstacles such as low branches. The course can include difficult terrain and some hills. Trail shoes are essential. Some walking is expected at points, but the event is run rather than a walk and organisers reserve the right to withdraw competitors who have not made sufficient progress through checkpoints.
Race numbers and timing chips are issued on the day; competitors should complete the reverse of their number with emergency contact details and any medical information. Affiliated runners should bring their affiliation card or equivalent details on a phone. Minimum age on the day is 17. Entry fees are £20 for affiliated runners and £22 for unaffiliated runners.
Prizes are awarded to the top three overall female and male finishers and to veteran categories female and male in 40, 50 and 60 age groups. Prizes are allocated on gun time with one prize per person; if a finisher qualifies in more than one category the veteran prize is passed down.
Showers are expected to be available after the event. Refreshments will be available at race headquarters and the adjacent Rugby Club bar will be open.
