Torrington Christmas Caper

The Torrington Christmas Caper is an annual off-road run held on 20 December 2026 that raises money for Devon Air Ambulance and Little John's House. The course covers almost 10 miles across forest trails, rivers, hills and muddy sections. Depending on weather and conditions, the route may include deep water, low branches and extensive mud. Trail shoes are recommended and some walking is expected on the course. The minimum age on the day is 17.

The event is organised with permission from local landowners and support from community groups. The venue is Torrington Rugby Club on Hatchmoor Road, Torrington. There is no parking on site; parking is available opposite at Simon Plastics and on roads in the Hatchmoor Industrial Estate (postcode EX38 7HP) or at the school sports car park a short walk away (EX38 7BU). Showers should be available after the run.

Entry fees are listed as Affiliated £20 and Unaffiliated £22. Race number and chip collection take place on the day; runners should write emergency contact details and any medical conditions on the reverse of their number. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers and to vet categories for 40+, 50+ and 60+. Only one prize is awarded per person so Vet prizes pass to the next eligible runner if needed. A medal or memento is planned for all finishers.

On the day there will be mince pies, festive music from Torrington Silver Band and homemade refreshments with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. Card and cash payments are accepted. The event often sells out. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
