SPAR Titanic Challenge Trail Run, Clarens Free State
The Titanic Challenge Trail Run is a one-day trail event that raises funds for the preservation of the Clarens Nature Reserve. The Clarens Village Conservancy, a non-profit organisation that manages the reserve, hosts the races that start and finish at Clarens Town Square and use reserve trails plus additional private farm routes.
Distances offered include:
- 50 km
- 35 km
- 21 km
- 10 km
- 5 km Fun Run
The entry fee includes a conservation fee that grants a seven-day permit for the Clarens Nature Reserve and a registration gift. Race shirts and other apparel are not included and may be purchased separately. Online entries are planned to close on 26 August 2026 or earlier if limits are reached.
Compulsory equipment is specified for longer routes: the 50 km requires a hydration pack, extra nutrition, a charged cellphone, a headlamp and a GPX device; the 35 km requires a hydration pack, extra nutrition and a charged cellphone. 21 km runners are strongly encouraged to carry a hydration pack and extra nutrition. Dogs are not permitted on any route.
Age minimums apply by distance and the fun run is open to all ages with children under 11 requiring adult accompaniment. Monetary prizes are awarded to the first three finishers in each distance and in male and female divisions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
