Three Shires Way Ultra and Marathon
The event on Saturday 19 June 2027 offers two point to point races that follow the Three Shires Way through the rural landscapes and ancient woodlands of Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire. Distances on offer include:
- 50 Mile Ultra
- Marathon
Both routes run largely on bridleways and are well way marked. The ultra route includes the county boundary at Threeshire Wood and a 12.4 mile loop around Grafham Water; an added section from Hanslope Village Hall brings the ultra to 50 miles. GPX files are provided for both courses.
Entries are open with entry fees listed at £75 for the 50 mile event and £40 for the marathon; a £2 discount applies to runners who are members of a club affiliated to UK Athletics. Minimum ages are 20 for the 50 mile race and 18 for the marathon. Cut off times are 14 hours for the 50 mile race and 8 hours for the marathon, with progressive checkpoint cut offs. No pacers are permitted. Entries and transfers close seven days before the event.
Coaches will run from the finish at Marlow Park, Grafham Water to the respective start locations; coach places cost £14 and can be booked with entry or added later for an additional admin fee. Parking at the finish is available at a reduced price of £5.

Mandatory kit includes a charged mobile, minimum 1 litre water, survival blanket, whistle, a personal cup, and for the 50 mile race a long sleeved top and reflective top or bands. Trail shoes are advised. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each race and all finishers receive an event medal.
