The Ultimate SUCK
The Ultimate SUCK is a multi-format endurance and obstacle event held at Decker Farm near Cuba, Illinois, across the weekend of September 3–5, 2027. The event combines farm chores, military style tasks, trail running, strongman elements and other physical tasks; specific tasks are withheld until participants encounter them.
Distances offered:
- 50 Miles (36 hour)
- 25 Miles (12 hour)
- 10 Miles (4 hour)
Base camp is in a hay field and participants use tents; RVs and buses are not permitted. Participants are not allowed to sleep once their event begins. The program may include activities such as carrying hay or logs, chopping wood, carrying heavy items, and exposure to pepper spray, though those are listed as possible elements rather than guaranteed components.
There are strict rules on crew and pacer access: no crews or pacers are allowed on course until the 24th hour; after that point one pacer may accompany a participant for the final 12 hours but may not assist beyond the designated campsite or carry items for the racer. Violation of these rules can result in disqualification.
Organizers provide detailed mandatory and recommended gear lists that differ by event length. Examples of required items include a ruck sack or backpack, high-capacity hydration pack, two unmodified 5 gallon buckets, homemade sandbags (weights vary by gender and age), life jacket, headlamp, safety glasses, emergency blanket and reflective vest. A military duffle bag and splitting axe are required for the 36 hour and for the 12 hour where specified. Check-in occurs on Friday, September 4 with a mandatory pre-race briefing and gear check.
