The David McCaw Snowshoe Memorial
The event is a January snowshoe race held at The Ark in Denholm, QC, serving as the first race of the season and a yearly memorial. It offers choices of short to mid-distance snowshoe courses on forested trails and a post-race buffet with homemade chili and brownies.
Distances available:
- 3K on snow-covered single-track trails
- 5K on forested trails
- 10K two-loop course through the same trail network
The terrain is described as hilly but without exposed rocks and roots; snow provides a softer, smoother surface. The 10K is a lapped course where leaders have recorded negative splits.
Entries include a range of on-site services and amenities such as free beer, a meal, prize giveaways, professional timing, a race bib, a race announcer, pre-race orientation, free parking, a closed course, on-site camping, and washrooms. A full season pass is offered that covers this race plus the Bushtukah Night Race and the Season Finale.
Published entry fees list early bird pricing for the 3K, 5K, and 10K at CA$48.70 and a full season pass at CA$128.20. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
