The Rock Ultra
The Rock Ultra is a trail running event set on the slopes of Paarl Mountain in the Paarl Rock Nature Reserve. Routes run through granite terrain, fynbos and open mountain landscapes and are centred on a race village at the Taal Monument.
Choose from multiple route options:
- The Klippie - 5 km
- The Boulder Lite - 12 km
- The Boulder Challenge - 22 km
- The Rock Marathon - 44 km
- The Rock Ultra - 100 km
All entries include professionally marked routes, aid stations across all distances, and medical and safety support. The finish line experience is located at the Taal Monument. Selected distances include event apparel, finisher medals, meal vouchers and finish-line refreshments; the 100 km distance includes a drop bag service.
The overnight ultra crosses exposed mountain terrain and requires endurance and resilience. The courses feature granite underfoot and exposure to the elements, which calls for focus and awareness from participants. The race village at the Taal Monument serves as the event centre where runners, supporters and spectators gather throughout the day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
