The Ripper - Sunrise to Sunset
The Ripper is a timed distance event held on May 8, 2027 in Pocomoke, MD. The event runs for fourteen hours and one minute on a lap-based course; participants complete repeated 3.3-mile laps and only fully completed laps count toward a runner’s total distance. Runners may start and stop at will during the timed period. In case of a tie, the runner who completes the final lap in the shortest time is ranked higher.
The course is approximately 95% trail, mostly single-track with some wider sections. It features rolling mountain bike-style hills and rugged, root-covered terrain that requires focus and agility to avoid falls. On-course support includes a well-stocked aid station at the pavilion offering water, Tailwind Nutrition, soda, sweets, and salty snacks. YMCA facilities, including bathrooms and showers, are available to participants.
Runners claim individual rest areas laid out in a beach-style field configuration and may keep crews at those rest areas; crews are not permitted on the course. Event rules require visible bibs, no bib transfers or bandit runners, staying on the established course, and packing out all trash. No pacers or dogs are allowed. The event proceeds rain or shine; cancellation occurs only under extreme circumstances affecting emergency or support personnel. There are no deferrals or refunds. Top three men and top three women receive awards, and all participants receive a keepsake and finisher recognition. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
