The Ridgeway Chase

The Ridgeway Chase is a 60 km point-to-point ultramarathon following the Ridgeway National Trail on Saturday 29 May 2027. The route starts at Ivinghoe Beacon within the Ashridge Estate and finishes at Ridgeway View Campsite near Wallingford, covering approximately 1000 m of ascent.

The 2027 edition is fully marked using orange arrow markers and ribbons. Navigation benefits from the Ridgeway National Trail signage, with supplementary race signage where needed. GPS tracking is provided and all runners must carry access to the route on a watch, phone or paper map.

There are four checkpoints on the course: CP1 Wendover Church (17.6 km), CP2 Whiteleaf (27.9 km), CP3 Aston Rowant (41.1 km) and CP4 Nuffield (54.8 km). Checkpoints offer water, soft drinks, branded electrolyte drinks, gels and chews, snacks, pre-made sandwiches and fresh fruit; hot water is available at CP3.

The event is limited to 150 runners, requires a minimum age of 20 and is licensed by the Trail Running Association, held under UKA rules. Time allowed for the course is 10 hours. Coach transfers to the start are offered from the finish and free parking is available at the finish. Required kit includes a charged mobile phone, GPX or map access, at least 1 litre of water-carrying capacity, a foil blanket or survival bag, a re-usable non-collapsible cup, nutrition and a payment method.

Entry pricing starts at £72 (£70 for affiliated runners) and entries open on 11 July 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
