The Ridgeway Chase

The Ridgeway Chase is a 60 km point to point ultramarathon that follows the first section of the Ridgeway National Trail. The route starts at Ivinghoe Beacon and finishes at Ridgeway View Campsite near Wallingford, running along ridgelines and woodland through the Chilterns and North Wessex Downs.

The event takes place alongside the longer Ridgeway Challenge and is fully marked for 2027 with orange arrow markers and ribbons. Navigation support includes permanent trail signage and additional race signs where needed. Open tracking is provided for runners.

Key event details include a 10 hour overall time allowance, a maximum field of 150 runners, and a minimum age of 20. The race is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UKA rules. It is listed as a UTMB World Series index race.

There are four aid stations with water, cola, Precision Fuel & Hydration products, snacks, pre-made sandwiches, and fresh fruit. Hot water is available at the third checkpoint. Checkpoints and distances are: CP1 Wendover Church at 17.6 km, CP2 Whiteleaf at 27.9 km, CP3 Aston Rowant at 41.1 km, and CP4 Nuffield at 54.8 km.

Required kit includes a charged mobile phone, GPX or paper route, at least 1 litre of carrying capacity for fluids, a foil blanket or survival bag, a reusable non collapsible soft cup, nutrition, and payment method.
