Event Overview
The Ozark's Mountain Challenge is a specialized hiking event held at Sam A. Baker State Park in Patterson, Missouri. This event is not a traditional race but a test of personal physical and mental endurance. Participants aim to complete eight ascents of Mudlick Mountain within a 12-hour time limit.
Course Details
The total challenge covers approximately 23 miles with a total vertical ascent of 7,980 feet, which is equivalent to the height of Mount Olympus in Washington. Mudlick Mountain features one of the highest vertical increases in Missouri. The route follows the Mudlick Hike Only Trail, the Mudlick Equestrian and Hike Trail, and the Fire Tower Trail. The terrain is rugged and includes inclines that reach up to 28%.
Format and Logistics
This is an "ascent only" challenge. After reaching the summit of Mudlick Mountain, participants are transported back to the base via a shuttle service to begin their next climb. While the goal is eight climbs, the event recognizes all achievements, whether a participant completes one ascent or more. The minimum age for participation is 16, and minors must be registered with an adult. For safety reasons, pets are not permitted on the trails.

The registration fee includes various amenities and services:
- Catering: Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and an after-party with beverages.
- Support: Hydration and nutrition stations, plus a recovery tent with aids.
- Ceremony: An optional "Spark of Strength Ceremony" held the evening before the hike at the CCC Lodge.
