The Maverick Ochil Hills Trail 2026
The event takes place on Saturday 8 August 2026 at Airthrey Castle, University of Stirling, Stirling, Scotland. Routes run through Hermitage Wood and Black Hill onto undulating open trails with views of the Ochil Hills. Longer routes include steeper climbs and fell trails inside the Ochils.
Organisers work with local partners including the University, Mountain Rescue, Future Forest Charity and the Kippendavie Group Trust. Online entry closes on 4 August 2026 and on-the-day entries may be available if the event is not sold out. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a participating adult. Dogs are not allowed.

Aid outposts provide sweet and savoury snacks, gels and electrolyte drink. Organisers aim for cup-free outposts; participants should bring a cup or bottle to refill. The course is fully marked and fully timed, with online results and event photography. Free parking and a bag drop area are provided.
Mandatory kit for Ultra and Marathon includes a waterproof jacket, mobile phone, minimum 1 litre water, 800 calories, self-adhesive bandage, whistle, foil blanket, hat or buff, a re-usable cup, and a GPX of the route. Cut-off points apply to the Ultra and Marathon to allow a maximum completion window of nine hours, and participants who miss cut-offs may be required to be collected.
