The Marlow Donkey
The Marlow Donkey is a challenge event organised by Thames Valley LDWA on 4 October 2026. Routes run from a start and finish at Liston Hall, Marlow, Buckinghamshire, and traverse the Hambleden and Stonor valleys and parts of the Chilterns, with a figure of eight centred on the village of Hambleden and the long route extending to Bix.

Entrants aim to complete their chosen route on foot within maximum time periods of eight hours for the 25 km route or eleven hours for the longer routes. Thames Valley LDWA provides drinks and snacks at the start and at outward checkpoints, with minimal provisions at Bix (CP3), and a simple meal of daal curry at the finish. Food cannot be guaranteed free from allergen contamination. Timed e-certificates will be available after the event via SI Entries and each participant receives a free badge.
Entry is limited to 150 places. LDWA members have preferential entry until 1 September 2026. Entry fees are £15 for LDWA members and £20 for non-members. Entries open 1 June 2026 and close 20 September 2026.
Entrants must carry required equipment including a personal drinking container, plastic mug, food, paper route description or suitable maps/GPS, mobile phone, whistle, basic first aid, waterproofs, suitable footwear and a compass. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
