Hardmoors 55
The Hardmoors 55 is a point to point ultramarathon held on 20 March 2027 covering 53 miles from Guisborough to Helmsley. The route follows the Hardmoors110/Cleveland Way corridor across the North York Moors and the Cleveland Hills, passing Roseberry Topping and the "Three Sisters". The course includes about 7545 ft / 2300 m of ascent and has a 16 hour overall time limit. Entry is limited to 350 competitors and the participation fee includes a compulsory tracker.
The route has organised checkpoints with food and water at several locations and two drop bag points at Kildale (11 miles) and Osmotherley (30 miles). A small waterproof finish bag may be taken to Helmsley for each runner. An optional coach transfer from the finish to the start is available for a fee.
Mandatory equipment must be carried for the full race and will be spotchecked at undisclosed checkpoints. Required items include a race vest or large bumbag, hat and spare gloves, waterproof jacket with taped seams and hood, waterproof trousers, full running tights, at least 1 litre of drink, headtorch, maps, whistle, survival bag or Blizzard jacket, foil blanket, emergency food and a fully charged mobile phone. Missing key items can incur time penalties or disqualification.
Support crews and pacers are only permitted at designated access points (Sutton Bank). Relay teams may enter with 2 to 4 members and have specific kit and vehicle rules. Refunds are not given; transfers or deferrals are allowed under stated conditions up to three weeks before the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
