About the race
The Great Escape is a trail event in the Ardennes organised by Legends Trails with running and walking distances that use the Escapardenne Trail and newly marked sections. The event basecamp and finish headquarters are at the Hall Polyvalent, 22 Route d’Eselborn, Clervaux, Luxembourg. The course runs through landscapes in Belgium and Luxembourg and includes multiple road crossings that are signed but not always marshalled.
Distances offered:
- 200 km run following Escapardenne Trail and new marked trails, finishing in Clervaux.
- 100 km run using new marked trails and Escapardenne sections, finishing in Clervaux.
- 160 km walk combining Escapardenne Trail and new trails, finishing in Clervaux.
- 80 km walk using new marked trails and Escapardenne sections, finishing in Clervaux.
Entries are limited by capacity per distance and places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis; cancellations and transfers have set deadlines and refund rules. Registration at the race headquarters is mandatory and participants are transported by bus to the start. Participants receive a race number, mandatory GPS tracker, checkpoint support, meals at specified distances, showers at a nearby gîte, and a finisher medal. Checkpoints are roughly 20 km apart and provide food, drinks and medical support. A mandatory kit list and GPS tracker with an SOS function are enforced for safety.
