The First Blaze Trail Race 2026
The First Blaze Trail Race is scheduled for July 11, 2026, at Kelso Conservation Area in Milton, Ontario. The event follows the Toronto section of the Bruce Trail and includes both point-to-point and out and back formats.
Distances offered:
- 50 km (about 51.8 km), point-to-point on the Toronto Bruce Trail, shuttle from finish parking to the start.
- 25 km (about 27.5 km), point-to-point, includes the Hole in the Wall and three aid stations.
- 10 km out and back, follows the final 5 km of the longer courses in reverse.
The course runs on the permanently white-blazed Bruce Trail; only the final 5 km will be additionally flagged for the 10 km. Terrain is varied and often technical, with rocks, roots, short but steep climbs and descents, bridges, boardwalks and stiles. The 50 km course has roughly 800 m of elevation gain and is described as appropriate for runners with prior ultramarathon experience.
Aid stations will be approximately 8 to 12 km apart and stock water, an electrolyte drink and typical trail food. The event is cup-less; participants must bring a collapsible cup or bottle and are recommended to carry at least 1 L of fluids. Race fees include a soft-spun t-shirt, a finisher’s medal, parking at Kelso and shuttle service for 25 km and 50 km runners. Finishers of the 50 km also receive a Toronto Bruce Trail Club End-to-End patch. The event is limited to 200 participants, is sanctioned by Athletics Ontario, and donates CA$20 from each registration to the Toronto Bruce Trail Club. La Sportiva and THN Labs are listed partners; THN Labs supplies gels made from maple syrup, tahini, sea salt and rowanberry extract. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
