The Fauna Trail Running Festival
The Fauna Trail Running Festival is a community-organised trail running event held in Fauna Forest near Donard, Co. Wicklow on Sunday 13 September 2026. Routes use country roads and forest trails designed to showcase the local woodland and provide distinct options by distance.
Distances available:
- 5 miles: country road and forest trail, shorter route for those seeking less mileage.
- 10 miles: country road and undulating forest paths.
- Half marathon (approximately 21 km): country road and undulating forest trail.
Courses are fully waymarked and marshalled. Event services include first aid stations, toilets, regular checkpoints, designated parking near the start/finish area and basic changing facilities. Post-race refreshments are provided at Donard Hall. The event includes accessible features such as permitting running poles, provision of toilets and period products, and an unwaged entry option for participants who need fee assistance.
Organisers limit entries to reduce environmental impact and maintain trail quality. The festival is delivered by Trail Criú in partnership with other local organisations and volunteer support. Entry arrangements include an earlybird discount for the first 150 entries and a policy that tickets are non-refundable; distance changes are allowed until 25 August. Name transfers can be processed up to ten days before the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
