The Cut - LIMINAL
The Cut - LIMINAL is a running-based endurance event held at Perranporth Life Saving Club, using the local coastline, dunes and surrounding terrain. The format consists of 12 timed rounds plus a final hour; each round begins on the hour and uses a running loop that stays within 3-4 miles. The required time for each round is not disclosed until competitors begin that round. If a competitor fails to meet the requirement for any round they are cut with no extensions or second chances.
If more than one competitor survives all 12 rounds the event proceeds to a final hour of head-to-head competition that determines one male and one female winner. The event emphasises repetition and deliberate disruption of predictability; the structure changes during the day and competitors must manage composure and resilience across rounds.
The event location exposes competitors to sand, shifting ground and undulating coastal conditions. The organiser recommends appropriate preparation and suggests participants be capable of running three miles in 24 minutes or under on undulating terrain as a safety and performance guideline. Mandatory minimum kit includes trail or off-road footwear, a high-visibility outer layer, a head torch, a rear red light, a fully charged mobile phone and a personal hydration system; spare footwear and socks are also recommended.
