About the race
The Alpenglow 100 takes place in Valemount, British Columbia from Friday, July 3 to Sunday, July 5, 2026. The event offers multiple trail distances and a short non‑timed kids race in the town and surrounding high alpine terrain.

Courses visit Mount McKirdy and Swift Mountain, reaching alpine terrain above 2300 m. Relative ascent and descent values by distance are: 38 km ~1800 m, 65 km ~3300 m, 100 km ~5000 m. The 38 km is a counterclockwise loop over the McKirdy ridgeline; the 65 km combines Swift and McKirdy ridgelines; the 100 km includes extended alpine sections and multiple high passes. ITRA points are available for the distances listed.
Aid station and drop bag arrangements differ by distance: 38 km has three aid stations and no drop bag access; 65 km has eight aid stations and one drop bag access; 100 km has twelve aid stations and two drop bags accessed multiple times. The event is cupless; runners must carry a collapsible cup.
Mandatory mountain gear must be shown at package pickup and includes items such as a warm hat, gloves, waterproof breathable hooded jacket, pack, food and water, survival blankets or bivy, whistle and a collapsible cup. For the 100 km two independent light sources of minimum 150 lumens are required. Missing mandatory items carry time penalties and possible disqualification. Poles are allowed. Crew access is limited and specific to listed aid stations.
The race acknowledges the ancestral and unceded territories of the Secwépemc Nation. Awards are given to the top three per gender and a top overall non‑binary per distance; all finishers receive a finisher medal. The 2027 Alpenglow 100 km has been selected as a qualifying race for the 2028 Western States 100. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
