About the race
The Somers Track & Field Booster Club 8th Annual Thanksgiving Turkey Trot is a community running event held at Somers High School in Somers, NY. The event offers two distances:
- 5K Race, fee $35, capacity 350, includes 2026 Turkey Trot tee shirt
- 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk, fee $15, medal included
Registration opens 8/23/2026 and closes 10/30/2026. Registrants for the 5K who register by 10/23/2026 can choose shirt size; after that date shirt sizes cannot be guaranteed. A group discount applies for 5K entries: teams of four or more receive $10 off the group registration.
Awards are presented to the top three males and females overall and in these age groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 and over, with an awards ceremony following the race.
Youth and adult shirts are available for purchase through the event store. Dogs are not allowed on school grounds and strollers are not permitted on the off-road course for safety reasons.
Packet pickup for bibs and shirts is scheduled Sunday 11/22 (12:00-4:00pm) and Monday 11/23 (5:00-8:00pm) at 3 Verona Place, Mahopac, NY 10541. Limited race day pickup is available on site from 7:00-7:30am. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
