Thames Meander Summer
Thames Meander Summer is part of a riverside race series that starts in Small Profit Dock Gardens in Barnes, adjacent to the Barnes Sports Club Race HQ at 261 Lonsdale Road, London SW13 9QL. The routes run along the Thames Path to a turnaround at Petersham & Ham Sea Scouts, using scenic out and back courses.
All three distances follow flat, runnable sections of the Thames Path. The course is waymarked and marshalled throughout. Check points are located at the start/finish in Small Profit Dock Gardens (CP1), Kew Gardens Car Park (CP2) and Petersham & Ham Sea Scouts (CP3). Check points are described as well stocked and there is professional medical support from KLP Medical Supplies.
The specific route formats are:
- 10 km: one lap out and back to Kew Gardens Car Park CP2.
- Half marathon: one 13.1 mile out and back to Petersham & Ham Sea Scouts CP3.
- Marathon: two 13.1 mile out and back loops to Petersham & Ham Sea Scouts CP3.
The series includes multiple dates across the year, with instances listed for March, August and October 2027. The event has been noted in reviews for clear course marking, frequent aid stations and riverside views. Runners World rated it as one of the top 10 trail marathons in the U.K. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
