Terwillegar Trail Run and Walk (Saturday, September 26, 2026)

The event offers a running and a walking course that both start from the trailhead at the end of Riddell Street, at the top of Terwillegar Park. Race volunteers will escort participants between the Riverbend Community Hall and the trailhead before and after the courses.

Distances

  • 7.5 km walk around Terwillegar Park and back to the hall
  • 10 km run with varied trail sections

The walk descends on a wide, smooth gravel path into an open field, follows approximately 4 km of well maintained perimeter trail suitable for trail style strollers, and returns by the same route. Aid stations serve cold water at about 1.5 km and 5.5 km. The walk is dog friendly as Terwillegar Park is an off leash area. Volunteers are present along the course.

The run quickly becomes technical with narrow, rugged trail, roots and rocks, single track sections around ponds, short steep climbs, and shaded stretches with low branches. An aid station is located at about 6.3 km, after a sustained climb. The finish returns runners to the start/finish area and then to Riverbend Community Hall, where a hot buffet breakfast will be available.

Fundraising is part of the event. The target is $10,000, the current total is $3,500, and donations are collected for You Can Ride 2 via Canada Helps. Tax receipts are issued for donations of $25 or greater; donors are asked to enter TTRW in the comment box to be counted in the total. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
