About the race
The Te Āpiti Traverse is a community event held on 19 September 2026 in Woodville, Manawatū - Tararua. It offers multiple route options that cross the ranges between the Manawatū and Tararua districts and include a mix of bush track, shared pathway, and road surfaces. The routes provide varied terrain with climbs, descents, and flat sections, along sweeping views of the region and sites of cultural significance.
Main public courses include:
- 42.00 km - Te Āpiti (long course)
- 20.14 km - The Ruahine
- 14.00 km - Te ahu a Turanga
- 10.00 km - The Downhill
High school team events are also available for the Ruahine (20.14 km) and Te Āpiti (42.00 km), with teams of 4-6 participants for the Ruahine event.
All participants must check in at the registration desk at Ferry Reserve, Woodville on the morning of the event. Organisers will provide bus transport from Ferry Reserve to course start locations where required. Bookings close at midnight on 17 September 2026 (NZST). The event is organised by the Woodville Lions Club, with Arohanui Hospice named as the primary beneficiary and additional proceeds returned to the local community.
