Tarmac Twister Trail
The Tarmac Twister Trail is a trail race presented by Essex Trail Events on 14 October 2026. The course is approximately 6 miles and has a minimum age of 16. The event holds TRA permit 8722.
This is a self navigation trail race using a written route description that will be issued on the night. The course is entirely tarmac or other hard surfaces and is street lit, but a head or hand torch is required to read the instructions because there are no route markings or marshals. The event is not a mass start; participants may run as individuals or in groups. Runners will be timed out and back in at the finish.
Race headquarters is at Springfield Cricket Club, Coronation Park, Timsons Lane, Chelmsford CM2 6AF. There is ample parking at the venue and a fully licensed bar and toilet facilities on site. All finishers receive a bespoke glow in the dark medal and light refreshments.
Entry fees are £12 for UKA affiliated athletes and £14 for unaffiliated athletes. Only 120 places are available and the organiser notes the event has sold out every year.
