About the race
Talan's Notorious Trail is a timed 6, 12 or 24 hour event built around a scenic 5 mile loop at Widemouth Bay on Saturday 10 July 2027. The route begins with coastal views, follows a nature trail to the Weir and returns beside Bude Canal before finishing on the event field.
The loop is approximately 60 percent trail and 40 percent tarmac, with about 307 ft of elevation and three short sections of seldom used road. Runners should follow the race rules and marshal instructions on road sections.
Race formats include:
- 6 hours
- 12 hours
- 24 hours
Main races accept Solo, Pair or Team entries; teams consist of three to eight runners. Main events have a minimum age of 20. There is a timed single lap option for ages 16 and older and a Cub Fun Run for children aged 4 to 15.
Camping is included for the weekend on the TNT event field north of the Bay View Inn. Camping covers the competitor, one adult and children under 16. Campervans and caravans are welcome but there are no electric hook ups. Portaloos are provided; there are no showers. Quiet hours run from 10 00pm until 7 00am. The TNT field is a separate facility to the official Widemouth Bay campsite.
Safety and support details include ankle timing tags, full event medical cover for 24 hours, a live results feed, and requirements that runners carry a headtorch and a rear flashing red light during hours of darkness. Standard headphones are not allowed; bone conducting headphones are permitted. Dogs are not allowed on the course.
Water, cola, hot drinks and some snacks will be available at the start and finish field. A bar and food vendors are planned. Food provided cannot be guaranteed allergen free so runners should ensure they have suitable supplies. Every finisher receives a medal. Any solo runner who completes 20 laps within the 24 hour event receives the TNT 100 mile finisher buckle. All surplus funds raised support Talan's Trust.
