About the race
Takayna Trail is a boutique ultramarathon fundraiser held in remote Takayna in north‑west Lutruwita / Tasmania. The event is based at the Men’s Shed in Waratah and runs over a weekend in late February 2027. It aims to raise funds to protect Takayna and its ancient Gondwanan forest landscapes.
Runners traverse a variety of terrain including rainforests, buttongrass plains and areas with steep hills and uneven surfaces. The course passes through forests of ferns, fungi, epiphytes, lichen and mosses, and includes sections of towering eucalypts and myrtle forest with valley views.
