TABLE MOUNTAIN BEAST - 5 June 2027
Table Mountain Beast is a trail running event on the Table Mountain massif with routes around Newlands and a shorter course starting in Hout Bay. The event offers three distances with measured elevation gain and supplied refuel stations.
- 50 km Ultra : elevation 2400 m, 3 refuel stations
- 30 km Beast : elevation 1600 m, 3 refuel stations
- 16 km Baby Beast : elevation 400 m, 2 refuel stations
The 50 km route begins on Newlands Forest trails and includes sections that pass Blockhouse and Kings Blockhouse, with cut off points at 7 km, 15 km, 21 km, 32 km and 40 km. The 30 km course includes forest runs and climbs via Nursery Ravine and reaches Platties. The 16 km course starts at Suikerbossie, follows the Myburghs trail through proteas and fynbos, and reaches Orange Kloof and an indigenous forest section.
Registration is handled from Foresters Arms in Newlands and start venues are Foresters Arms for the 50 km and 30 km, and Suikerbossie Restaurant in Hout Bay for the 16 km. There is no race day parking at Foresters Arms; competitors are advised to use Newlands Forest parking and the pedestrian tunnel.
Compulsory kit includes a charged cell phone, waterproof jacket, food, minimum 1 litre hydration, space blanket, headlamp, whistle, GPS device or ALL Trails app, and a reusable cup. Headphones, dogs and litter are not allowed. The event operates with no single use water sachets or paper cups. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
