About the race
Table Mountain Beast is a trail running event on 5 June that offers multiple distances on Table Mountain and surrounding areas near Newlands and Hout Bay. Routes use single track, forest trails and fynbos terrain and include steep ascents and technical descents.
Distances:
- 50 km Ultra; elevation gain 2400 m; 3 refuel stations.
- 30 km; elevation gain 1600 m; 3 refuel stations.
- 16 km (Baby Beast); elevation gain 400 m; 2 refuel stations.
The event lists a registration venue at Foresters Arms, Newlands, and a start venue for the 16 km at Suikerbossie Restaurant, Hout Bay. The 50 km route begins with trails in Newlands Forest and includes sections approaching the Blockhouse and other Table Mountain features. Each route has multiple cut off checkpoints along the course.
Compulsory kit includes a charged phone, waterproof jacket, at least 1 litre hydration to start, food, space blanket, headlamp, whistle and a GPS device or the AllTrails app. The event promotes environmental measures: no water sachets and no paper cups are used, and participants should bring a reusable cup.
