About the race
The T1D 4x4x48 Ultramarathon asks participants to run 4 miles every 4 hours over a 48-hour period, for a total of twelve runs and 48 miles. The event is scheduled for Friday June 4 to Sunday June 6, 2027 in Humboldt, SK.
The weekend raises funds and awareness for research toward a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. Over six years the event has raised more than $477,000 to support cure-based research through DRIFCan, an organization based in Edmonton.
Weekend activities include an evening banquet with entertainment and live and silent auctions, repeated four-mile runs through the 48-hour window, a community breakfast, a Super Hero themed evening run with glow elements, and a Sunday community walk with a free A&W barbecue lunch. The running route uses a wilderness trail in the Humboldt area.
Options for involvement include completing the full ultramarathon, running or walking a single leg with the team, or pledging financial support to research efforts. The event frames its program around the continuous, day-to-day challenges faced by people living with Type 1 Diabetes and the need to fund cure-based research.
