Svalandsgubben Skauløp
Svalandsgubben is a long-standing forest run held at Svalandsheia in Birkenes. Established in 1974, the event is traditionally organized on the last Sunday of October. The 2026 edition marks the 53rd time this race has taken place since its inception, which originated from an idea developed at the Kristian Svaland farm.
The race is known for its terrain, often referred to as a "marsh adventure." The course features varied natural surfaces through the local landscape. Registration for the event is binding. The start of the race is signaled by the firing of a Mauser rifle, maintaining a tradition that has spanned decades.
The event offers different distances and categories to accommodate various participants:
- 27 km main course
- Junior Gubben
- Mini Gubben
Participants can access historical data including all-time results, an "Adelskalender" ranking, and lists of winners from previous years. The event has also been featured through live broadcasts and extensive photo archives. GPS data for the primary 27 km route is provided for navigation and preparation purposes.
