Summit for Life 2026
Summit for Life is a nighttime uphill event on Aspen Mountain in Aspen, Colorado, organized by the Chris Klug Foundation to raise awareness of organ, eye, and tissue donation. Racers climb 3,267 vertical feet over a 2.5 mile route to the summit. Participants may hike, skin, or snowshoe to reach the top. There is also a Ride for Life option that uses the Silver Queen Gondola to reach the summit and a virtual option that lets participants climb the equivalent elevation remotely on the same date.
Participants meet in Gondola Plaza at the base of Aspen Mountain and proceed to the summit where a post-race party is held at the Sundeck Restaurant. Dinner is provided by The Little Nell. The event presents awards for top fundraisers, top race finishers, and the Michael Wells Inspirational Award, and also recognizes the best dressed team. All registered participants receive a commemorative 2026 Summit for Life item; racers receive a racer bag and a long-sleeved shirt.
Each racer is required to fundraise a minimum of $100. Racers who have not reached the fundraising minimum by the end of November will be charged the remainder, and participants who register in December must pay both registration and the minimum fundraising amount. Donations are accepted through the end of the year. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
